Individual One-on-One Tutoring Sessions
Most students will opt for one-on-one tutoring sessions, as it suits the individual needs of each particular student.
This usually begins with a session where we go through the specific areas the student needs help with and decide on an action plan.
I would typically ask each student to prepare a focused list of the course elements they are finding challenging currently. This helps concentrate specific areas rather than trying to cover everything.
Many students can be overwhelmed by the amount of course content which makes them feel as though they are struggling with everything. Experience tells me that most students find certain areas of the course challenging whereas few find it all difficult.
My aim is to help them ‘make the mountain into a mole-hill’ and help them see that they can do it.
Research Methods Topic Support Course For A’level Psychology Students
Do you need help with the Research Methods topic?
Do you dread the statistic and Research Methods questions?
Don’t hide from it - get tailored support alongside your school work, improving your performance on Research Methods.
It has been my experience as a teacher and tutor of psychology that understanding the research methods section of the A’level course is the most challenging aspect for students.
Sometimes it can be seen as an ‘add-on’ to the less exciting parts of their psychological studies, however, it is a fundamental part of how we understand human behaviour.
Understanding Research Methods accounts for a significant number of marks in the examination.
AQA A’level psychology specification states:
“At least 25–30% of the overall assessment will assess skills, knowledge and understanding in relation to research methods.”
When up to a third of your overall A’level marks are assessed through research methods questions, it makes sense to ensure you are confident with them.
What Does The Course Include?
Why Not Join Up The Session With A Classmate And Share The Cost?
The course can be delivered individually or to small groups.
Small allow you to share your understanding and help each other understand this vitally important part of the course.
Between 2 and 4 students is the most productive group size. Organise the location and fees yourself and book the session with me. I’ll leave the logistics up to you!
These represent the most typical format for tutoring, however, contact David directly to discuss the individual tutoring requirements for your son/daughter.

This is very specific to the individual needs, however, typically each session is 1 hour and at weekly intervals.
Some students like to have more intensive sessions as they get closer to exam time.
Yes, I'm happy to mark any work the student completes as part of their studies. I will also be suggesting exam-style questions they can complete to improve their examination confidence.
All marking is completed outside of the tutoring session to make the most of the teaching hour. Marking is completed at no extra charge.
There is the option of online (Skype/Zoom) sessions, particularly when students are not local.
In my experience, in-person sessions are more effective, however, it is possible to mix and match in person and online sessions.
The cost of online sessions are the same for in-person.
Individual One-on-One Sessions:
£40.00 per 1hr tutoring session. (In-Person or Online)
